David Van Leeuwen was born and raised in Hinsdale, Illinois, and moved to Washington, DC in 2006. He has a background of over 10 years as a homeowner, real estate investor, landlord, and property developer, and brings these valuable skills to bear when working with his real estate clients.
David entered the Real Estate world in order to learn more about wealth-building strategies and share them with others. David Van Leeuwen has been working in the federal government on foreign assistance projects for over 12 years, bringing valuable development professionalism to different teams in Moldova, the Philippines, Tanzania, Malawi and Sierra Leone. Prior to federal employment, Mr. Van Leeuwen lived and worked in South Sudan and was as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Philippines. David Van Leeuwen is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from the globally recognized Project Management Institute (PMI).
He has an M.A. in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), with concentrations in International Development and Economics. He earned his B.A. in History and Political Science from Illinois College, and received certification to teach secondary education. Mr. Van Leeuwen speaks and reads Spanish at an intermediate level. Mr. Van Leeuwen lives in AU Park with his wife and three boys, and enjoys coaching soccer and baseball, and is a den leader with the Cub Scouts.
