I have been a full time real estate agent since 2005. I was born in a small town in central PA. This is the area from where the farmers at your local farmer s market often live. I went to college at Bucknell University, in northern PA in the middle of nowhere.
Upon graduation, I knew I was ready for city life. I visited many cities along the East coast and decided that DC was the place I wanted to call home. In 1995, I packed up my Civic hatchback and headed south. I started my professional career as a receptionist in a law firm. I quickly moved up to Administrative Assistant to two partners at a large accounting firm. In this position, I was often tasked with planning meetings and events.
Soon, I started taking the necessary steps to become a professional Meeting Planner. For the next 7 to 8 years I worked as a Meeting and Event Planner for associations, private industry, and Federal government branches. I planned board meetings, educational conferences, festivals, parties, etc. In 2002, I purchase my starter home, a charming row house in Brookland. I dreamed of some day purchasing an Arts and Crafts bungalow, but that was financially out of my reach at that time.
As time went on, I became increasingly discouraged with my job. Working as a government subcontractor, employees with the same title received the same salary. Being driven to work harder, simply did not garner any additional reward. I started thinking about what kind of career change I could make that would reward me in proportion to my hard work. I decided that I wanted to get into real estate. For more than a year, I interviewed every real estate agent I knew, ran into on the street or found in an open house. I took off a week vacation in order to take the real estate licensing class. I became a real estate agent in 2005.
I quit my job the day I found out that I had passed the exam. I was named Rookie of the Year in 2006 and the Top Producer in 2007 for my local office. I appeared on two episodes of HGTV's Get It Sold. I have continued to grow my business and joined Keller Williams Capital Properties in 2012. I work with both buyers and sellers to fulfill their dreams of homeownership. I purchased my own dream home in 2016 - a Brookland bungalow - which I am in the process of restoring.
